| Description | Male-female. Maintain by mating. Wild-type reference strain for Distolabrellus veechi Anderson, 1983. Isolated by M. E. Doucet in 1991, from necrotic portions of stems of cotton seedlings (Gossypium hirsutum) near Córdoba, Argentina. Gonochoristic. Originally cultured on agar with raw meat, but grows on E. coli OP50 at 18-22˚C. Survives freezing via the C. elegans protocol. Sent to the CGC by David Fitch who obtained the strain from Walter Sudhaus on April 3, 1992, who obtained the strain from M. Doucet. |
