Thus it begins 18 +/-4 bp from the end of exon 4 and lies entirely in intron 4 of the gene (I-4 is 927 bp). I checked if a possible branching site in the intron should be affected by this deletion, but it seems not to be the case. Our conclusion is that the deletion represents a non-functional mutation.
