Males mate quite well (E. Hare and C. Loer). Some phenotypic defects originally attributed to mg280 in this strain are likely due to vs166. vs166 is a large deletion (approx. 9.8kb) in the cam-1 gene; flanking sequences are: 5'-gctactggtaaataaggtaa-3' and 5'-atgcttttaaagtttatatt-3' (Edith Myers, personal commnication). See MT15434 for a strain carrying mg280 without the cam-1 mutation.

Males grown at 15C can mate very well. psa-1 encodes a homolog of yeast SW13, a component of the SWI/SNF complex. Sequence data of this strain revealed the mutation is actually GTC/CCC/TCA to GTC/CTC/TCA causing a P86L substitution (G. Hayes).

At 25C, approximately one-third of q626 hermaphrodites were missing one distal tip cell (DTC) and approximately one-half of q626 males were missing the linker cell (LC). q626 also feminizes the XO gonad. q626 affects the production of SGP daughters in both sexes. There is also a maternal component since the mutant phenotype is almost fully penetrant in offspring of homozygous mothers, but less penetrant in offspring of heterozygous mothers.
