Temperature sensitive. XX animals make no sperm. Temperature sensitive period in L1. Maternal effect. XO animals are intersexual males. Temperature sensitive period in soma is L1-L3. Temperature sensitive period in germline is L2-adult.

XX animals have no obvious phenotype: self-fertile with normal brood size. XO animals are self-fertile hermaphrodites with low brood size and some somatic gonad defects. Cbr-fem-2/+ XO animals show late-onset germline feminization. AF16 was the parental strain.

Heterozygotes are WT and segregate WT and DpyUnc. 1/3 of the WT are fem-2 homozygotes. Homozygous fem-2 animals are hermaphrodites if mother was heterozygous for fem-2, and are fertile females if mother was homozygous for fem-2.

XX are self-fertile hermaphrodites.
